FR. LARRY TAN, S.D.B., a Salesian of Don Bosco, was born on November 27, 1953, he grew up in Makati during his tender years and studied in Don Bosco Technical Institute - San Lorenzo Village Makati - where he discovered his priestly and religious vocation. He entered the minor seminary barely 12 years old in Don Bosco Juniorate, Bacolor Pampanga in pursuit of his dream of one day becoming a Salesian priest. He earned his BSE degree and took his Philosophical Studies in Don Bosco Seminary College, Canlubang Laguna. He graduated Magna cum Laude in sacred Theology at UST – Espana, Manila. On December 8 1980 he was ordained a priest at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Better Living Subdivision, Parañaque.
As a Salesian priest, he has been assigned in several Don Bosco Schools in
different capacities, mostly concerned with education and
administration. Hi finished his M.A. degree in Educational
Administration in Ateneo de Manila University – Loyola Heights.
He was sent abroad to take up Salesianity Courses in Don Bosco Hall
and Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley , USA . after the grenade throwing incident in his office as principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati last June 8, 1989.
He has been deeply involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal through the Bukas Loob sa Diyos Covenant Community since 1986 when he attended the BLD Marriage Encounter and life in the Spirit Seminar. He has been pretty much in demand for preaching retreats to young and old alike.
Presently he is SALESIAN MISSIONS DIRECTOR in charge of raising funds for the support of the pastoral projects of the Salesians in The Philippines. |
